The Palio di Siena is one of the oldest horse races in the world. Siena's 17 neighborhoods (contrade) are each represented by a different crest during the races, a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. These commemorative plates are handpainted in Deruta, Italy. Natural imperfections are visible due to being handglazed. Marked "Drago, Made in Italy" on the back.
