Vintage Wicker Elephant Purse

Rare 1950's era woven animal purse. This little elephant is so adorable! These wicker animal purses were often manufactured in Japan or Hong Kong during the 50's and 60's.

This elephant is in great condition, but still a delicate piece. None of the wicker is broken and the rounded shape of the basket is perfectly intact. There is some colorful residue on the inside of the purse - maybe from carrying crayons?  It has the original button and string closure. Unmarked.
